
Gabriela Salas Cabrera (born June 6, 1996, in Chapulhuacán, Hidalgo, Mexico) is an engineer and master’s degree holder in information technologies, specializing in data science, object-oriented programming, and artificial intelligence. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at UNADM and a master’s degree in data science at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain.
Her hobbies include playing the piano, reading about technology and habits (always using physical books), practicing the violin, staying connected with nature, and donating blood. An Indigenous woman and native speaker of Nahuatl, she is also fluent in Spanish, English, and Tének. Originally from Chapulhuacán, Hidalgo, she has become an influential figure in the fields of technology and education, standing out as a mentor and advocate for information technologies. Her main focus is on developing projects for the common good, leveraging artificial intelligence to address social issues, and inspiring Indigenous girls to pursue STEM careers, combating the underrepresentation of women in technology.
Achievements and Contributions
- First Indigenous woman in technology at OWSD–UNESCO, promoting inclusion in science and technology.
- Creator of innovative systems for suicide prevention and early detection of leukemia, applying AI in public health.
- Named Mentor of the Year 2021 by the organization Mujeres Líderes en STEM.
- Founder of the program “The Future Will Be Bright Because Girls Are Bright”, which provides technological equipment, mentorship, and educational support to underprivileged girls to foster their access to STEM fields.
